Managing your prompts

Add, park, tag, and organise the prompts Lumen tracks, and understand campaigns and funnel segments.

Updated 24 August 2026

Prompts are the questions Lumen asks the AI engines on every scan - ideally the questions your buyers actually ask. You manage them in the Prompts tab.

Active vs parked

Only active prompts are included in scans. Parked prompts keep their history but cost nothing. Park prompts that are seasonal or exploratory, and activate them when they matter.

Tags and segments

Prompts carry tags such as discovery (unbranded questions like "best CRM for small teams") or branded/comparison tags. Discovery prompts drive your Organic score, so keep a healthy set of them.

Campaigns

Prompts added through the suggestion flow can be grouped into campaigns - a themed set you can track as a unit, with its own page showing how the campaign performs over time.

The Retrieval column

Each scanned prompt shows a Retrieval figure: how often the engines actually searched the web for it versus answering from model memory. Use it to pick your battles - a prompt at 0% - memory cannot be won with published content, while a high-retrieval prompt responds to content and citations. See Visibility metrics explained for the full definition.

Writing good prompts

  • Phrase them the way a real buyer would type them, not as keyword strings.
  • Cover the funnel: discovery questions, comparisons, and near-purchase questions.
  • Keep the set focused. A tight set of 20-40 prompts you act on beats hundreds you ignore.
